The run up to The Royal International Horse Show 2017.

Following the ever successful Hickstead Derby Meeting last month, the countdown to The Royal International Horse Show has begun!

It was a superb week of equestrian sport, with highlights being shown on Sky Sports and Horse and Country TV. Holly Smith returned from a broken leg to win the Bunn Leisure Derby Trial, Matthew Sampson scored his first major international win at Hickstead in the British Speed Derby, and the epic jump off of The Al Shira’aa Derby, in which Nigel Coupe came out on top ahead of Harriet Nuttall.

Hickstead’s Ring 4 also saw some great showjumping action throughout the show, Ring 4 was built four years ago by the Andrews Bowen Team, surfaced with our London 2012 mix. Andrews Bowen London 2012 mix, the most scientifically researched surface, developed for the London 2012 Olympics. Lars Roepstorff, professor in equine functional anatomy at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, has been carrying out research on the properties of equestrian surfaces around the world as part of a long-term scientific footing study for the FEI, considered the London 2012 footing to be amongst the best and particularly the most consistent that he has worked on.
